5 Facts About Rhinoplasty

One of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures for both men and women is the nose job or rhinoplasty. Since the nose is the focal point of the face, it can both enhance and detract from the appearance of the face. A small adjustment to the shape or size of the nose can have a dramatic effect. Here are five facts that you may not have known about this popular cosmetic surgery.

  1. Skin and cartilage grafts are common. To reshape the nose, surgeons often use cartilage and skin from other areas of the body. There is less chance of rejection of the implant when it is tissue from the same person. ‘Plastic’ is not used- the term ‘plastic surgery’ refers to reshaping the body, not adding the material into the body.
  2. Rhinoplasty is not a new procedure. As far back as 500 BC, there are writings describing nose procedures that use some of the same techniques that are used today. Of course, these surgeries were solely for fixing a nose that was deformed or injured, not as a cosmetic procedure.
  3. Appearance is only one reason for rhinoplasty. Although appearance is one of the most common reasons people choose to have a ‘nose job’, it is not the only reason. There are medical reasons to change the shape of the nose, as well as repair it from injury.
  4. Rhinoplasty ranks in the top five cosmetic procedures. Consistently, rhinoplasty is one of the top five cosmetic surgeries in the U.S., along with breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks and eyelid surgery.
  5. Every nose and face is different. Rhinoplasty is one of the most artistic cosmetic procedures there is, requiring a very careful reshaping to fit the face of the individual. If you are considering rhinoplasty, you want an experienced cosmetic surgeon that specializes in this procedure.

Quick and Easy Removal of Skin Tags

Almost everyone will experience a skin tag at one point or another during their lifetime. These small skin formations are usually not harmful, yet can be uncomfortable or unattractive. Skin tags are usually just a collection of normal skin cells growing into a protruding bump, usually in areas where skin rubs together, such as an armpit or eyelid. Regardless of the cause of the skin tag, most people would prefer to be free of these unattractive growths.

Removing Skin Tags

Most skin tags will not cause any health problems, although some can become infected. Yet even though they aren’t dangerous, they’re also not a welcome development for many people. These small bumps can be embarrassing, especially when they are located in prominent areas on the neck, face or eyelids. Luckily, having them removed is a simple procedure.

A professional plastic surgeon can quickly and virtually painlessly remove skin tags in one office visit. There are several ways to remove these formations, depending on the size and placement. In most cases, the procedure takes only a short period of time, healing quickly once it is removed. People who have several of these tags can often have all of them removed in one appointment.

Most skin tags are benign growths which are not harmful. However, by consulting a plastic surgeon you can have any skin formations inspected by a skin expert who can remove the skin tag and have it tested if there are any concerns of cancerous cells. It’s the safest and most effective way to remove skin tags, giving you back smooth skin and peace of mind.

Take Years From Your Face With a Non-Surgical, Liquid Facelift

It’s inevitable; as you get older, the effects of time will begin to be noticeable as lines, wrinkles and sagging skin appear on your face and neck. While some people are willing to undergo surgery to have these aging effects reversed, there are non-surgical options available to regain a youthful appearance. One of the newer popular cosmetic procedures with little downtime is the liquid facelift, a perfect option for those who are looking to look younger without surgery.

What is a Liquid Facelift?

For patients who want a more youthful appearance without the downtime and expense of a surgical facelift, the liquid facelift is a powerful option. This procedure involves using several strategically placed facial filler injections to combat the lines, wrinkles and sagging skin that can make you look older. The result is a smoother, younger looking face within one single outpatient procedure.

Many men and women love this new option for several reasons. While the results are noticeable, a liquid facelift offers a more natural appearance which is more subtle than surgical options. Additionally, this procedure can be done in one appointment, painlessly, with little to no downtime. It’s a great way to get a younger face quickly, with results that can last up to two years.

If you’ve been noticing the signs of age on your face and are looking for a fast, non-surgical option, discuss the liquid facelift with your local cosmetic surgery clinic to see if they offer this service. More experienced cosmetic surgeons usually offer this procedure, as it’s gaining popularity due to the many benefits for patients.

Chin Implants

The face is one of the most personal as well as the most public places on our bodies. The face is personal as it reflects who each person is, but it is also incredibly public because our face is how people recognize each of us. If a person is self conscious about the appearance of her face, how she portrays herself can be insecure and cause her to come across in an unwanted manner. Chin implants are done to build a better profile in forming the chin height and roundness. With a better profile, the facial structure is balanced and more attractive.

Many times a rhinoplasty surgery (nose job) is performed at the same time as a chin implant in order to balance the proportions of the face. Chin implant surgery involves placing synthetic materials deep under the tissue and onto the underlying bone. Most surgeries are performed through incisions made inside the mouth, however some are done from a small incision under the chin. A pocket is created at the tip of the chin and an implant is placed inside the pocket. The chin will be supported with tape for several days to decrease swelling and prevent build up of fluid.

Chin implants are one of the most successful surgeries in terms of patient approval. Most people are pleased with their decision to have facial contour procedures such as chin implants. In consulting with their surgeons, patients are able to design the facial proportions that they desire. With good planning and communication between the doctor and patient, the desired outcome is achievable.
