The Chin and Nose Correlation

The facial features all impact each other and contribute to the harmony and balance of the face. When a nose looks too large or overbearing, it is not always due to its actual size. The chin shape can drastically impact the appearance of the nose. This chin and nose correlation are important when striving to create a balanced appearance to the face. If a chin looks too small or a nose looks too large, it may require adjustments to one or both to create a balanced face.

Correcting Facial Balance with Chin Enhancement

A nose can appear too large due to a receded or weak chin. When the jaw is smaller, it pronounces other features like the nose and forehead. Often, enhancing the chin can balance the features. A chin enhancement procedure can change the shape of the face to make the nose look smaller.

A chin enhancement can be accomplished with a few different procedures. In some cases, facial fillers can be used to temporarily change the shape of the chin. Permanent options require plastic surgery. Usually a chin implant or bone grafting is used to reshape the chin and jawline, balancing the face shape and other features.

Rhinoplasty for Facial Harmony

If the nose is too large, rhinoplasty can be used to reduce the size and reshape the nose. This can help balance the face, even making a chin look more pronounced. If a combination of a weak chin and larger nose are present, a dual procedure of a chin implant and nose reduction may be needed to create the desired result.

If you feel like your nose is too large or your chin is receded, consult a facial plastic surgeon. Rhinoplasty, chin enhancement or a combination of both may offer solutions to create attractive balance in your facial features.

Top 5 Benefits of Juvederm

While there are many dermal fillers available for cosmetic treatments, Juvederm has been one of the most popular for over a decade. Approved by the FDA in 2006 to treatment wrinkles in the skin, Juvederm has expanded its line of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to transform the faces of many people of both genders and various ages. Here are five of the many benefits of Juvederm for dermal filler injection treatment.

  1. Natural appearance. The smooth gel of Juvederm products offers a softer, more natural appearance and feel then some other dermal fillers.
  2. Multiple formulas. Juvederm has created different products that are better suited for treating different areas on the face. For example, Voluma XC is designed for filling the cheek area, while Juvederm XC is best for lines and wrinkles.
  3. Darker skin types. Juvederm’s formulas work with darker skin types, while some other dermal filler types do not blend well with dark skin.
  4. Longer lasting results. Some Juvederm products can last for as long as two years, reducing the need for more frequent treatments.
  5. Quick results and treatment times. Treatments for diminishing lines or wrinkles, plumping lips or filling the cheek area are quick and require no downtime. Results are usually almost immediate, offering a fast option for improvement of facial features without surgery.

If you are interested in trying Juvederm to enjoy enhanced facial features or to reduce signs of aging, seek a plastic surgeon with a med spa. You want a qualified medical professional to administer your injections and discuss the best options for treatment to get the best results from Juvederm. Contact a local plastic surgeon clinic to learn more about the different Juvederm products for facial enhancement.

Is Skin Bleaching Safe?

You may have heard of skin bleaching and wondered what this procedure is and whether it is safe. Although the term ‘bleaching’ sounds harsh, the actual treatment is not a bleach in the traditional sense. These topical treatments are non-surgical and when overseen by a cosmetic surgeon, can be a safe and effective way to lighten skin, including dark scars, age and liver spots.

How Does Skin Bleaching Work?

Melanin in the skin is what makes it darken. Whether it is hereditary darker skin due to race or a tan from being out in the sun, melanin is the pigment that creates this darker skin. It is also what causes freckles, age and liver spots, plus dark scars from acne and other skin inflictions. Skin bleaching uses agents to reduce melanin to lighten dark skin. This is used to rid the skin of dark spots and even the tone of the skin for a younger, healthier complexion.

Although there are over-the-counter bleaching creams for skin, there has been concern about some of these creams containing mercury, which can be toxic. Although using mercury in these products is banned in the U.S., creams made outside the country could contain the toxic substance. This is a good reason to only use skin bleaching creams that are prescribed from a cosmetic surgeon to ensure their safety.

If you have darker spots, scars or an uneven skin tone, consider talking to a local cosmetic surgeon about skin bleaching options. Most prescription creams are used at home and can help give you back the lighter, even skin tone you desire. There are few, if any, side effects beyond lightening the skin when treatments are followed as directed by your doctor.

Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation

Want to look more youthful and vibrant but cosmetic surgery just doesn’t seem right for you? There are alternatives today that can also take years off of your appearance. We’re talking about “injectables,” which someone has coined, “facelift through a needle.” Thanks to continuing medical advances, many people today are seeking less invasive, non-surgical, quick fixes with little to no down time required. Injectables are substances that cosmetic and plastic surgeons use to lessen the appearance of facial wrinkles, furrows, worry lines, crow’s feet and scarring.

If you are one among many who want a quick cosmetic procedure that can produce similar benefits as a facelift, without surgery, then you may want to talk with your local plastic surgeon about injectables, also called facial fillers. Injectables are safer and less expensive than a facelift, but patients must return periodically for additional treatments to maintain their new, rejuvenated, appearance. Of course, there are a variety of injectable materials available to correct a variety of facial needs. Some of the more commonly used, and most popular, injectables would include Botox, which is used to soften, not fill in, facial lines like forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet and laugh lines around the mouth. Collagen improves the appearance of the skin by filling out deep facial wrinkles, furrows and some types of scars, in addition to plumping up of the lips. Restylane is another popular injectable that adds fullness to the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

There are more injectables available, some used to fill in and enhance sunken cheekbones or chins, or reduce the appearance of scars and lip augmentation. All of these products have varying times of immediate effect and lasting results. Your personal cosmetic surgeon will known what products are best to meet your needs and get the results you desire.
