Remove Sun Spots for Good with Laser Treatment

Do you have sun spots and freckles that have appeared over the years? While one or two freckles are fine, when more appear, it can change the tone and appearance of your skin. Sun spots can make your skin look older, an occurrence most people want to avoid. There are options to remove sun spots and other discolorations that happen from aging and sun exposure. One of the best solutions is laser treatments which can fade away those sun spots for good.

Laser Treatments for Sun Spots

There are many different types of skin laser treatments. Some types are used for eliminating hair growth, while others stimulate collagen or treat spider veins and other skin flaws. For removing sun spots, you need a laser treatment that is specifically designed to target darker pigmented skin cells, destroying them and allowing new, lighter cells to take their place.

One option for improving the tone and complexion of the skin, including removing sun spots, is a Limelight Photofacial. This procedure uses intense pulsed light or IPL to target sun and brown spots on the skin. It is non-invasive and not painful, only requiring a quick office visit to perform. Over the next few weeks, the darker spots begin to flake away, revealing even-toned skin. Plus, IPL helps increase collagen production which can help the skin look smoother and younger.

If you have sun spots on your hands, chest or face that you want removed, find a med spa at a plastic surgical clinic that offers Limelight Photofacial laser treatments. In as little as one treatment, you can watch your sun spots fade away for good, giving you beautiful skin that looks healthy and youthful.

What is an IPL Treatment?

We should all be mindful to use sunscreen and moisturizer on a daily basis, but let’s face it, they are easy to forget.  Sun exposure can lead to pre-mature wrinkles, freckles and sun spots, especially if you live an outdoor lifestyle. I your skin has become blotchy because of sun damage, consider an IPL Treatment.

What is IPL?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. In this non-surgical treatment, the areas of concern are exposed to a high concentration of flashing light which promotes the return collagen and elastin to the skin.  Redness and dark spots are brightened to bring skin to a more even tone.

What is the Procedure Like?

The procedure itself only takes about thirty minutes to perform in a spa or medical office setting.  A gel is applied and then the light treatment is delivered by a handheld wand to the affected areas. Small scabs will come to the surface where particles in the skin are burned but they are sloughed off within a week or so.  What is left is softer more even skin.  The light treatment also helps correct small wrinkles that may have been caused by sun damage, so that is another plus!

What Else can IPL Treat

Besides Sun Damage and fine wrinkles, IPL can reduce the look of some birthmarks, rosacea, freckles, age spots, and broken blood vessels. It also can be used to remove unwanted hair on different parts f the body.

If you are considering options for a more even skin tone, look for a boutique or medical spa near you that offers IPL treatments.  They will know if you are a good candidate for the procedure.
